Gerard Clare and Suzanne 19th January 2010

I remember my speech on my wedding day when I said that I could not have wished for a better father-in-law and mother-in-law. It was true then and it will always remain true. You were so welcoming to me Ellen, and to my family, as the Hodsons and Ashers became good friends. I remember meeting you for the first time, and the meal you had cooked was full of vegetables...not my favourite things! Wanting to make a good impression I ate them all. It was later on that night that Sue told you I wasn't keen on vegs. You were upset that you didnt know. That was so typically Ellen, always wanting to make sure everyone is happy and content. Another story I remember was when you were serving up roast chicken. Now i didn't realise this at the time, and so the question of 'Are you a leg or breast man?' was a shock to say the least but we had such a laugh afterwards!! I have so many wonderful memories. I will miss you so very much. I suppose I am lucky though - I see so many of your wonderful characteristics in my darling wife and I know I will in Lily too. God Bless MIL, love SIL xxxxxx
